Skybound Entertainment, the company behind The Walking Dead, Invincible and more than 150 proprietary intellectual properties, is investing $10.5 million in the Danish studio 5th Planet Games. “There is an enormous business to build together in the Nordics.”
Copenhagen, 8 September 2021 - American powerhouse Skybound Entertainment invests 10.5 million dollars (66 million Danish Kroner) in 5th Planet Games, a Danish company. 5th Planet Games is led by Henrik Nielsen, the former COO of interactive entertainment giant Unity.

Skybound Entertainment is one of the world’s leading entertainment companies, producing video games, comics, movies, television, board games, merchandise and books. Skybound is best known for the worldwide hit intellectual properties (IP) The Walking Dead and Invincible. The Walking Dead has been the most watched TV series in over 100 countries and has generated numerous spin-offs and video games, which have won over 100 Game of the Year awards. The animated show Invincible recently premiered on Amazon Prime Video and has also been a runaway global success, with a second and third season of the show simultaneously picked up and a live action movie in the works at Universal Pictures.

Developing existing and new IP
Skybound’s partnership will allow 5th Planet Games to work on top tier IP such as The Walking Dead and Invincible, while gaining access to the extensive library of other IP owned by Skybound. Equally important, the investment will bring expertise to create and nurture original IP from within the Nordics.

5th Planet Games has offices in Copenhagen and Berlin and has developed games within both the Tintin and LEGO franchises, as well as with well-known sports stars such as Christiano Ronaldo and their own IP Hugo, the much-loved Danish troll. 5th Planet Games will also partner with Skybound Entertainment to find and develop amazing talent from the entire region – not just Denmark.
