11-2023 5th Planet Games A/S - Annual Report for 2022

COPENHAGEN, March 30th, 2023: 5th Planet Games A/S (OAX: 5PG) is pleased to announce that the annual report for 2022 has been released today. The full report can be viewed by clicking the link at the end of this document. It is with great pleasure we can confirm that 5th Planet Games is now a profitable business. Through the hard work of the executive team and the 5th Planet Games Board we have been able to turnaround an EBITDA loss in 2021 of over DKK 9m, to an EBITDA profit in 2022 of over DKK 1.6m, and in doing so, have fully delivered on the updated guidance that was issued in August of 2022 in terms of both revenue and profit (EBITDA). Clearly our partnership with Skybound is now having a profound and positive impact on the financial performance of our business, the access to high quality content, world-class IP and the best game developments talent in the industry; games such as Before Your Eyes have made a significant contribution to our business. Whilst we have been very focused on optimizing all the new and exciting opportunities that came our way in 2022, we have remained equally focused on costs, and running the business in the most cost-effective way that we can. This focus on cost efficiency will not change as we head into 2023 and beyond. Our results in 2022 have not been solely contingent on the titles we have secured through our partnership with Skybound; our back catalogue continues to make a meaningful contribution to our business and our own IP ‘Hugo’ continues to find new routes to market with several new development and publishing agreements completed last year. We will continue to manage our back catalogue in a pro-active manner through 2023 and look for new opportunities for ‘Hugo.’ About 5th Planet Games 5th Planet Games is a video games publisher located in Copenhagen, active in games across all global platforms and devices. Dedicated Glitch busters site has been launched, as well as one for wrestlequest for upcoming launches:

Regarding the annual report, these are the most interesting numbers:

Revenue expectation 2023: 15-22 million DKK
EBITDA expectation 2023: 7-9 million DKK

CEO has predicted the revenue and EBITDA of 2022 pretty accurately, so this statement holds some value!

More importantly, the company sits on a pile of cash:

36 million DKK on total assets of 59 million DKK. There will be a last investment tranch this year of Skybound, so their cash position should even increase. The company thus has a well filled warchest to invest in new opportunities in the upcomming months and years  ! The future of 5PG seems very interesting!

Edit: most important thing Stanger had to say in the investorcall is that there will be an investor roadshow in the next months, as 5PG now has a story of profitability to tell…!

I decided to play the open beta of Glitch Busters: Stuck On You. Very nice game, needs a few improvements (that’s why it is an open beta), but it is a stable game with a nice environment. I normally only play strategy games, but I actually enjoyed the game. It is sort of a combination of a puzzle and advanture game. The game has a potential to (like the other games co-published with skybound) to become a good selling game. It targets a broad audience and is well build. Depending on the feedback I expect them to have little problems with solving the issues that pop up in the beta testing.

Tommorow launch of glitch busters. Looking forward to see the reviews, I think this could be a succes. Nice gameplay and could be a fun co-op game.

Further there is a small delay of ± 3 months of wrestle quest announced. On thursday we can also expect the Q1 report.

15-2023 5th Planet Games Announces that Glitch Busters: Stuck on You is available now from Skybound Entertainment and Toylogic Inc.

Short analysis of how this game is received:

In the west, the game is not well received. Criticisms are mainly irritating sound (I totally agree) and low IQ AI.

In China however, it seems to be better received. The name of the game in chinese is: 病毒特攻队 and reviewers are giving it higher scores. Wondering how this will develop. I think the game is mainly developed for a Chinese audience…

https://steamdb.info/app/1616110/charts/ will also be interesting to see how the game is received. All in all I think the game is fun and decent, but needs some little tweeks in the AI and the irritating sound (last one should be very easy)

You need to get past the treshhold of 10 reviews on steam to see increases in users. From then on steam generates an average score.

Unless the AI bots are good a co-op game with 46 players as peak on release is more or less dead after a couple weeks.

It somehow is not listed on steam as recently released… (apparently happens some times) therefore the launch takes an atypical form with increases the day after the launch.

More importantly is that in the next hours steam will generate an average score of the game. Currently 100% of the reviewers liked it, this in itself should attract new players.

I suppose it is also crossplatform co-op

I am underwelmed by the Q1 2023 results. I hope the CEO will soon be able to present a new investment as currently the company is sitting on a pile of cash, that has not been touched (allthough my guess is that a large part of this is allocated but not yet paid to the new walking dead game).

I am wondering what they will do with the glitch busters game. What I can see from the steam reviews is that it is receives very good reviews from gamers (mainly asian), which is a good indication for the quality of the game. Nevertheless it has to sell and I hope they will focus their marketing efforts on Asia.

I like DLC’s. DLC’s (especially larger ones) indicate that the game is profitable.

For the three other games (Glitch Busters, Vice NDRCVR and Wrestle Quest), there is an interview here (Skybound Games Aims for Retro Nostalgia With WrestleQuest and Vice NDRCVR - YouTube ). In this video they say that Vice is also planned for this summer.
They discuss the date from minute 4
