Fedmebehandling som investering

The detailed results being presented are from the 60 participants in Part 2B/2C of the MAD study, who were randomized to receive ABBV-295 (n = 45) or placebo (n = 15). Participants had a mean age of 41.5 years and a mean BMI of 29.3 kg/m2, and 88% were male. ABBV-295 was dose-escalated to 4, 6, or 14 mg once weekly, 14 mg every other week, or 8 mg monthly, and administered for 12 or 13 weeks. ABBV-295 is an investigational therapy that represents a mechanistically distinct class from incretin-based therapies such as GLP-1 and GIP receptor agonists.

vs 3.1% in the placebo arm

Starting at week 24, participants on placebo who regained 50% or more of the weight loss achieved during the SURMOUNT-5 trial were initiated on orforglipron as rescue therapy.

Roche Holding AG, for example, already made some changes. The plan is to offer patients a “long-term extension period” for their trials, giving whoever receives the placebo a chance to then switch and take the experimental drug.

Novo Nordisk, the producer of Wegovy, said it “offers counseling and follow-up as part of its trials, helping some patients on placebo make lifestyle changes and lose weight as well,” according to Bloomberg.

Kanskje en parentes innen emnet:

ATR-258 was well tolerated across three ascending dose levels. Treatment was associated with an approximately 13% improvement in lower-extremity muscle power from baseline, as well as statistically significant mean reductions of 1.1 kg in fat mass and increases of 0.8 kg in lean mass. This unique profile offers the potential to address metabolic and muscle-related diseases with high unmet need and a lack of effective treatments

" Zealand Pharma announces positive Phase 2 ZUPREME-2 topline results for amylin analog petrelintide in people with overweight or obesity and type 2 diabetes

  • Petrelintide achieved up to 9.2% mean body weight reduction at week 28 versus 2.0% with placebo
  • At week 28, petrelintide demonstrated a HbA1c reduction of up to 0.65% versus an increase of 0.23% with placebo
  • Safety and tolerability profile of petrelintide was consistent with that seen in the Phase 2 ZUPREME-1 trial
  • Very low discontinuation rates due to gastrointestinal adverse events (1.9% for petrelintide versus 1.7% in placebo group)
  • Data reinforce potential of petrelintide as a future first choice therapy for chronic weight management"

Tidligere gjetning:

Fasit:

9,2 prosent absolutt vekttap, 7,2% placebojustert

HbA1C reduksjon ble 0,65%poeng, placebojustert 0,88.

Toleranse: Safe as milk

Markedet ble småskuffa, men kan likegodt være skuffelse over den litt premature avslutningen av tilbakekjøpene som fortsatt manifisterer seg her, hvem vet?

Blir gøy å se hvordan petrelintide + ct388 blir sammen i både t2d og ren fedme ass

Rona Therapeutics enters into global license agreement with Roche for ALK7-targeting RNAi therapy for obesity and metabolic diseases

Oct 13, 2026, 03:00 ET

SANTA BARBARA, Calif., Oct. 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ – Rona Therapeutics today announced it has granted Roche (SIX: RO, ROG; OTCQX: [RHHBY]) an exclusive worldwide license for Rona’s investigational RNAi candidate targeting activin receptor-like kinase 7 (ALK7) utilizing the company’s proprietary extrahepatic delivery platform.

ALK7, encoded by the ACVR1C gene, is predominantly expressed in adipose tissue and is a genetically validated target for obesity and metabolic diseases. Inhibition of ALK7 by directly targeting adipocytes has the potential to selectively reduce visceral and other ectopic fat depots while preserving lean mass, offering a differentiated approach that may be complementary to incretin-based therapies.

“Obesity is a complex chronic disease with significant unmet medical needs for new mechanisms that can improve the quality and durability of weight loss,” said Stella Shi, CEO and Founder of Rona Therapeutics. “ALK7 is a compelling obesity and metabolic disease target with the potential to directly address adipose tissue biology. Rona Therapeutics is committed to discover and develop novel RNAi therapies to benefit patients with obesity and metabolic diseases globally. This collaboration combines Rona’s pioneering extrahepatic RNAi R&D platform with Roche’s strong expertise and commitment in global development and commercialization of medicines for the treatment of obesity and metabolic diseases to bring this important therapeutic candidate to patients.”

“Obesity represents a significant health challenge that requires differentiated treatment options for patients,” said Boris L. Zaïtra, Head of Corporate Business Development at Roche. “We are excited to partner with Rona Therapeutics, complementing our robust CVRM pipeline and reinforcing our commitment to delivering next-generation metabolic therapies.”

Under the terms of the agreement, Rona will receive upfront and near-term milestone payments of up to $100M and is eligible to receive up to $1.06 billion in potential development, regulatory and commercial milestone payments, as well as tiered royalties on global net sales.

About ALK7

ALK7 is a member of the transforming growth factor-beta receptor superfamily and is primarily expressed in adipocytes. The ALK7 signaling pathway regulates adipocyte lipid storage, lipolysis and energy homeostasis.

Human genetic studies have associated reduced ALK7 activity with favorable fat distribution and metabolic phenotypes. Therapeutic silencing of ALK7 therefore has the potential to promote reduction of visceral adipose tissue while preserving lean mass and improving metabolic health.

Unlike incretin-based therapies, which primarily affect appetite and energy intake, working in the CNS, ALK7 inhibition acts directly on adipose tissue biology. This differentiated mechanism creates the potential for ALK7-targeted therapies to be used independently or in combination with established obesity treatments.

About Rona Therapeutics

Rona Therapeutics is a world-leading RNAi therapeutics company dedicated to addressing cardiometabolic, obesity and degenerative diseases with next generation RNA technology platform. Since its inception in 2021, the Company has progressed multiple programs into global development leveraging its proprietary platform in extrahepatic delivery, multi-valency and novel oligo chemistry. Camurus AB: Camurus initiates Phase 2b study of CAM2056 monthly semaglutide depot in obesity

2026-11-03 14:00:00

Lund, Sweden - 3 November 2026 - Camurus (NASDAQ STO: CAMX) today announced that the first patient has been dosed in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase 2b study (LUNAR-2), evaluating efficacy and safety of CAM2056, the company’s semaglutide subcutaneous depot, in patients with overweight or obesity.

“Our Phase 1b study showed the potential for faster and greater reductions in body weight and glucose with monthly CAM2056 than with weekly semaglutide, with a similar safety and tolerability profile. In the Phase 2b study we will evaluate higher doses over a longer treatment period, with the aim of further improving weight loss, combined with the convenience of once-monthly dosing”, says Fredrik Tiberg, President and CEO, CSO of Camurus.

The Phase 2b study is expected to enroll 150 participants, randomized 1:1:1 to CAM2056 10 mg, CAM2056 20 mg, or placebo, administered every four weeks following an initiation period. The primary objective is to demonstrate superiority of CAM2056 20 mg over placebo in reducing body weight after 36 weeks of treatment. Secondary endpoints include the proportion of participants achieving at least 5, 10, 15 and 20% body weight reduction, and changes in glucose homeostasis, waist circumference, blood pressure and lipids. Results are anticipated in the first half of 2028.

CAM2056 is Camurus’ long-acting subcutaneous formulation of semaglutide, a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist, based on the company’s FluidCrystal® technology. In a randomized, active-controlled Phase 1b study in 80 participants with overweight or obesity, CAM2056 provided dose-dependent reductions in body weight, HbA1c and fasting glucose that were comparable to, or exceeded, those observed with weekly semaglutide administered according to its prescribing information. At day 85, weight reduction was 9.3% with CAM2056 10 mg, compared with 5.2% with weekly semaglutide. After 3 months, CAM2056 achieved a weight reduction comparable to that seen with weekly semaglutide after 5 months. The safety and tolerability profile was similar to that of the weekly semaglutide despite a more rapid dose escalation with CAM2056.1

GLP-1 drugs may outperform metformin for prediabetes

GLP-1 drugs may help prevent type 2 diabetes and lower the risk of heart attack and stroke in people diagnosed with prediabetes more effectively than the current standard medication, according to data to be reported at the AHA meeting .

Researchers reviewed medical records of more than 256,000 adults with prediabetes and obesity, about half of whom were taking the GLP-1 medications semaglutide, tirzepatide, liraglutide or dulaglutide. Semaglutide and liraglutide are Novo Nordisk diabetes drugs sold as Ozempic and Victoza, respectively. Eli Lilly’s tirzepatide and dulaglutide are sold under the brand names Mounjaro and Trulicity for diabetes.

The other half were taking metformin, a gold-standard generic medication prescribed for prediabetes.

During the three-year study period, patients taking GLP-1s had a 50% higher chance of reversing high blood sugar to normal levels, a 31% lower risk of developing full-blown type 2 diabetes, and a 41% lower risk of death from any cause, compared to patients taking metformin.

GLP-1 medications were also associated with 15% fewer heart attacks, 20% fewer strokes, 25% fewer cases of heart failure and 8% fewer cases of the irregular heartbeat known as atrial fibrillation that can increase stroke risk fivefold, according to a brief summary, or abstract, of the study.

“This research may add to the case for considering GLP-1 medications earlier for certain patients, rather than waiting until they develop type 2 diabetes,” study leader Dr. Vinicius de Sousa Barzon Serra of the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona, said in a statement.

The benefits are likely related to weight loss, which is known to help prevent type 2 diabetes, Dr. Robert Eckel , a past president of the American Heart Association who wasn’t involved in the study, said in a statement.

Metformin is still a first-line treatment choice that’s safe, inexpensive and has a long track record, Serra said.
