Now we can finally talk about a UA attack on the Lukoil refinery in Nizhny Novgorod and it seems it hit close to refining unit АВТ-6 which is responsible for 53% of the refining at the refinery. АВТ-5 is still offline due to Western parts shortages.
АВТ-5 and АВТ-6 have a combined theoretical refining capacity of 17 million tons and were modernized in 2005-2006. The two combined also represent 11-13% of Russian gasoline production and even more when it comes to high octane gasoline production.
In 2023 together with the smaller АВТ-1 and АВТ-2 the refinery went through 15,8 million tons of oil and produced 4,9 million tons of gasoline, 5,6 million tons of diesel fuel, as well as 2,3 million tons of fuel oil and 0,8 million tons of jet fuel.
This year however because of the inoperability of АВТ-5 with its 8 million ton refining capacity and stoppages due to attacks on other refineries as well as repairs and maintenance Russian gasoline refinement is down by 7,2%.
