December 6, 2022 : Magnora receives major cash payment from legacy business, more to come – Oslo-listed renewables developer Magnora (MGN NO, Buy) announced today that it has received the first of several major cash payments from its legacy oil services business. The company will shortly receive $7.5m (NOK 75m) from Shell after a milestone was reached for an FPSO (floating production ship for oil & gas) that Shell will utilize at a field in the UK North Sea. In total, the company is due $16.1m or NOK 160m from Shell, which in total amounts to over 10% of the company’s market cap. While Magnora no longer has oil services operations, the payments are a legacy of its previous life as Sevan Marine ASA. The remaining payments are expected to be paid by the end of 2023. In addition to these legacy royalties, Magnora has begun to receive dividends as a result of project sales by its 40%-owned solar developer in Sweden, Helios Nordic Energy. Magnora expects to sell 200-350 MW of projects next year, marking 38% growth in net sales compared to its 2022 target. Using the guided range of NOK 0.5-1.5m per megawatt, the 2023 target implies a mid-point of NOK 294m in sales proceeds. As such, underlying sales proceeds and FPSO royalties revenues (including today’s payment) could amount to over NOK 450m by the end of 2023. For perspective, Magnora’s market cap currently stands around NOK 1.6bn.
