It’s important for me to give a 100% honest, objective review.
Summary
If you don’t like going in detail, the game is actually not bad. The gameplay is good, but the menus, videos, etc have plenty of bugs. Not worth $60, but I’d recommend it for $30 or less if the bugs were fixed.
- Con
± Neutral/depends on player preference
Gameplay
- The gameplay is the best pro of this game. It is actually fun for me and that keeps me playing it. I think the best way to describe it is a mix between L4D and Dead Island.
± It is challenging at times - too challenging for most casual gamers (I was playing with randoms, but with friends it should be a lot easier).
I think there should be an option to choose the difficulty for story missions so people who like the challenge can increase it and casual gamers can still enjoy the game.
- the gameplay is dynamic as the spawns keep going. The game has a snowball effect - the more you mess up, the harder it is to get back on track.
Environment/Atmosphere/Story
- good atmosphere. The music, voices, and situations make it feel like it should.
- the story. If you’re expecting The Walking Dead out of this game, you’re in the wrong place. There’s nothing about it other than zombies and surviving. Unfortunately I can’t experience the story. I will mention why later.
Menus/Tutorials/Extras
- honestly…horrible. When trying to start a game it always gives a network error and then it works…lol…I spent 10 skill points in useless skills because there was NOTHING saying I was supposed to unlock something in a completely different menu, which I finally found 15 minutes and a mission into it.
This game is not made by gamers and it shows. There are so many things that you will stare at and say “why did they do it like that??”
When your vault space is full, you are not warned about it and when you get new items, it will say you earned them but never do.
± classes. I like the class system. Abilities are associated to specific characters, however, I personally dislike how they made weapons skills exclusive to classes. For example, if I want to use a shotgun and a revolver, I have to lose weapon bonuses for one of the two.
- bugs. Videos just freeze and go to black screens for me. I just skip all videos now with the fear that it will crash my game.
There are also some gameplay bugs. I almost failed a mission because the survivor AI would not want to move during an escort mission. Twice I had to quit because I was either physically stuck in objects or were teleporting and unable to go forward in the map.
± performance is alright. Nothing crazy, but no fps cap and it’s not terrible. A gtx980 will get you about 90-100 fps on ultra 1080p res.
Went ahead and did a loading screen test for this review.
Hard drive average varies between 30 seconds to 1 minute. This varies a lot on HDD speed.
Lobby where everybody had SSDs - average between 10 and 15 seconds.
PCI-E SSD - 3-5 seconds…yes…you read that right lol highly recommend installing this on an SSD if you can, just keep in mind that you’re only as fast as the slowest person that’s loading in with you.

content. There are 11 missions, but I think there’s really only 4 maps, they’re just being reused in different missions. The same applies for additional missions. This game just lacks the content and I really doubt season 2 will change that.

biggest con. Straight forward, this game is not worth $60 . It’s okay. Good at best, but $30 would have been a fair price for both ends. $60 is way overpriced.
I’ll update this review if I can think of or find more
