HAV Group: Datterselskap skal levere nytt landstrømanlegg til Scandlines

desember 2023 – Scandlines har tildelt en kontrakt til HAV Groups virksomhet for energidesign og smarte kontrollsystemer for å levere et landbasert ladesystem til fergeoperatørens kai i Puttgarden, Tyskland.

Den norske maritime systemintegratoren, som spesialiserer seg på bærekraftig energidesign og smarte kontrollsystemer, skal levere det landbaserte ladeanlegget til Puttgarden fergeleie og koble utstyret opp mot strømnettet. Selskapet skal også levere tilleggsutstyr til skipet.

Scandlines’ nye ferge, «Futura», som er under bygging i Tyrkia og ikke vil ha direkteutslipp når den er i drift, skal betjene sambandet Puttgarden-Rødby mellom Tyskland og Danmark.

I april 2022 signerte HAV Groups virksomhet for energidesign og smarte kontrollsystemer en kontrakt for å levere landstrømanlegget i Rødby, på den danske siden av sambandet. Nå skal selskapet også levere en ladeløsning på den tyske siden av fergesambandet.

– Vi er godt fornøyde med å bli tildelt enda en kontrakt for et landstrømanlegg. Den kommer i tillegg til de allerede inngåtte kontraktene for ladesystem på dansk side av sambandet, leveranse av batteri og kontrollsystemer, samt for å være systemintegrator for nullutslippsfergen. Samlet sett understreker dette kompetansen vår innen integrerte fartøysløsninger og -tjenester, sier Gunnar Larsen, konsernsjef i HAV Group.

LADER PÅ REKORDTID

HAV Groups virksomhet for energidesign og smarte kontrollsystemer er allerede i gang med å levere fremdrifts-, automasjons- og navigasjonssystemet til Scandlines sin ferge. Når virksomheten nå skal designe og levere fergens ladeløsning på den tyske siden av sambandet i tillegg til det danske, har selskapet ansvar for det komplette energidesignet, fra strømnett til propell.

Den komplette landbaserte ladestasjonen inkluderer en 30MVA transformator, middels og lavspennings transformatorer og tavler, i tillegg til kontrollsystem og datasamlingssystem. Sammen sikrer disse komponentene trygg, effektiv og pålitelig drift av både ladesystemet og fartøyet.

– Med en batteripakke på ti megawatt-timer, tilsvarende den kombinerte kapasiteten til rundt 150 store elbiler, blir fergen blant skipene i verden med størst batterikapasitet. Hurtiglading er essensielt for fergen mens den losser av kjøretøy, og skal ta om lag 12 minutter. Forestill deg å lade opp 150 elbiler med én lader på bare 12 minutter. Mens det å hurtiglade en bil er én ting, er håndteringen av denne energimengden en helt annen sak, sier Jan Klokk, selger i HAV Groups virksomhet for energidesign og smarte kontrollsystemer.

HAV Groups virksomhet for energidesign og smarte kontrollsystemer vil ta i bruk kontorer og anlegg i Bergen, Egersund og Ålesund for å designe, sammenstille og teste landstrømanlegget.

HAV Groups kontraktspart er Norwegian Electric Systems AS. Selskapet har ikke oppgitt verdien på kontrakten.

HAV Group: Subsidiary to deliver onshore charging system to Scandlines

15 December 2023 – Scandlines has contracted HAV Group’s energy design and smart control systems business to deliver an onshore charging system to the ferry operator’s berth in Puttgarden, Germany.

The Norwegian maritime system integrator, which specializes in sustainable energy design and smart control systems, will deliver the land-based charging system to the Puttgarden ferry berth and connect the equipment to the power grid. The company will also deliver additional equipment to the ferry.

Scandlines’ new zero direct emission ferry, Futura, currently under construction in Turkey, will operate the Puttgarden-Rødby route between Germany and Denmark.

In April 2022, HAV Group’s energy design and smart control business signed a contract to deliver the shore power solution in Rødby on the Danish side of the route. Now, the group will also provide the charging solution for the German side of the ferry link.

It adds to the already signed contracts for charging system on the Danish side, and the contract to deliver battery and control systems plus to act as system integrator for the zero-emission ferry. CHARGING IN RECORD TIME

HAV Group’s energy design and smart control business is already in the process of delivering propulsion, power, automation, and navigation systems to Scandlines’ zero direct emissions freight ferry. With the design and delivery of the ferry’s charging solution on the German side of the link, as well as the Danish, the company is responsible for the complete energy design, from the power grid to the propeller.

The complete onshore charging station includes a 30MVA grid transformer, medium and low voltage transformers, and switchboards, in addition to control system and data collection system. Together these components ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of both the charging system and the vessel.

“With a battery pack of ten megawatt-hours, equivalent to the combined capacity of about 150 large electric cars, the ferry’s battery capacity will be among the world’s largest on board a ship. Rapid charging is essential for the ferry while it is unloading vehicles and should take about 12 minutes. Imagine charging 150 electric vehicles with one charger in 12 minutes only. While fast charging a car is one thing, handling this amount of energy is quite another matter,” says Jan Klokk, VP Sales at HAV Group’s business area for energy design and smart control systems.

HAV Group’s energy design and smart control systems business will utilise its three Norwegian facilities in Bergen, Egersund, and Ålesund to design, assemble, and test the onshore power system.

HAV Group’s contract party is Norwegian Electric Systems AS. The company has not disclosed the value of the contract.

HAV Group ASA: ESVAGT har valgt HAV Design for å utvikle SOV

januar 2024 – Viser til børsmeldingen datert 8. januar 2024. HAV Groups virksomhet for skipsdesign har blitt valgt til å utvikle et nytt serviceoperasjonsfartøy (SOV) for havvindparker for ESVAGT, som er en internasjonal eier og operatør av offshorefartøy. Kontrakten er nå inngått med ESVAGTs valgte skipsverft i Tyrkia.

Som del av kontrakten skal HAV Group’s skipsdesignvirksomhet levere både skipsdesign og en stor, integrert utstyrspakke som inneholder fremdriftssystem, motorer, propeller og posisjoneringssystem. En av underleverandørene til utstyrspakken er HAV Groups datterselskap Norwegian Electric Systems. Total kontraktsverdi er i overkant av 100 millioner kroner.

– Dette er den tolvte SOV-en vi utvikler sammen med ESVAGT, som i 2010 var først ute med å ta i bruk SOV-er. Vi er godt kjent med de høye kvalitetskravene til ESVAGT og ser frem til å utvide vårt lange og nære samarbeid med enda en ny SOV, sier Gisle Vinjevoll Thrane, salgsdirektør i HAV Design.

– Vi er svært godt kjent med utfordringene ved å frakte personell trygt fra fartøyet til havvindturbinene. Det er årsaken til at vi nok en gang velger denne høyprofilerte SOV-en fra HAV Design, som vi har tillit til. Vi vet at dette skipsdesignet og kvalitetene den har gir stor gevinst for både kunder og mannskap, sier Kristian Ole Jakobsen, visekonsernsjef i ESVAGT.

ESVAGT chooses HAV Design to develop Holland-bound SOV

19 January 2024 – Reference is made to the stock exchange announcement dated 8 January 2024. HAV Group’s ship design business has been chosen to develop an offshore wind service operation vessel (SOV) for international SOV operator and owner ESVAGT. The final contract has now been signed with ESVAGT’s chosen shipyard in Turkey.

Under the contract, HAV Group’s ship design business will deliver both the ship design and a large integrated equipment package including propulsion system, engines, propellers and positioning system. One of the subcontractors for the equipment package is HAV Group subsidiary Norwegian Electric Systems. The total contract value is in excess of NOK 100 million.

“This is the 12th SOV that we will develop together with ESVAGT, who pioneered the use of SOVs back in 2010. We are well aware of ESVAGT’s high quality requirements and look forward to extending our long-standing close cooperation with another newbuild SOV,” says Gisle Vinjevoll Thrane, vice president of sales at HAV Design.

The main purpose of the SOV is to safely transfer technicians and spare parts to and from wind turbines and offshore substations. The SOV also provides accommodation for technicians, welfare facilities, offices, workshops and storage for turbine parts.

The vessel will be built at Cemre Shipyard in Turkey. Once completed, the SOV will support Vestas’ operations on the Hollandse Kust West VI project in the Dutch sector of the North Sea.

That is also why we again nominate the design of this high-profile SOV to HAV Design that we trust. Reference is made to the stock exchange announcement from HAV Group ASA (“HAV” or the “Company”) of 24 May 2023 regarding the continuation of the repurchase program of up to 7,000,000 own shares. The Company may however only acquire treasury shares provided that the total nominal value of the holding of treasury shares does not exceed 10% of the Company’s current share capital at any time, as of today corresponding to 3,500,000 shares.

HAV Group: Subsidiary receives funding for H2 energy system

13 February 2024 – HAV Group’s hydrogen business has received NOK 12.4 million in funding to build, test and certify a full-scale prototype of the company’s Zero Emission Pod – a containerized hydrogen (H2) energy system for ships.

The DNV-approved Zero Emission Pod is a complete deck house where several fuel cells are mounted together with a complete hydrogen distribution system, control and safety system including emergency shutdown system, ventilation system, cooling system, and DC/DC power distribution system.

The Zero Emission Pod received Approval in Principle (AiP) by DNV last year. Building and testing of a full-scale prototype is a continuation of this work. The prototype testing will further enhance technology readiness-level and –from a shipowner’s perspective – substantially de-risk the solution. The latter will make it easier for shipowners to choose to invest in one or more Zero Emission Pods.

“Our system is designed based on a risk-based methodology in order to comply with the safety barrier requirements of IMO’s fuel cell guidelines. This is essential to create a mass market product that can be quickly adopted by the maritime industry. Moreover, having a physical, working product to showcase to shipowners and yards will enable an enhanced understanding of the maturity and marketability of the Zero Emission Pod,” says Kristian Osnes, managing director of HAV Group’s business for hydrogen-based energy systems.

Testing and certification will be conducted at SINTEF’s new test facility in Trondheim, Norway.

Grant awarded

Due to the system’s innovative features and substantial commercial potential, Innovation Norway has allocated a NOK 12.4 million grant to HAV Hydrogen to build and test the first full-scale Zero Emission Pod. The prototype will be built during 2024.

Innovation Norway’s Environmental Technology Scheme is aimed at the pilot and demonstration phase of a development project, targeting environmental technology. The purpose of the scheme is to promote the development and implementation of new technologies that provide increased environmental protection and contribute to strengthening Norwegian business competitiveness.

“Facing the monumental challenges of transitioning and phasing out fossil fuels, the importance of our mission at Innovation Norway becomes ever more clear. Supporting projects like HAV Hydrogen’s is important, as it embodies Innovation Norway’s commitment to support Norwegian industries through this pivotal transformation,” says Magne Aarsnes, financial adviser at Innovation Norway.

HAV Group ASA will provide the remaining funds required to build, test and certify the prototype.

Newbuild or retrofit

Installed effect from the Zero Emission Pod can be used for the main propulsion systems, or for additional power supply on board the vessel to comply with green operation standards. Quayside, the hydrogen system can ensure sufficient green power supply to the vessel, which does not need to rely on onshore charging infrastructure to achieve zero emission status.

“The Zero Emission Pod can either be utilized as a retrofit option for vessels that have not already been prepared for a conventional retrofit installation below deck, or as a complete plug-in module that de-risks the yard installation for newbuilds. The size of the potential market is huge,” adds Kristian Osnes.

Zero Emission Pod mottok prinsippgodkjenning (AiP) fra DNV i fjor. Bygging og testing av en fullskala prototype er en videreføring av dette arbeidet. Testingen av prototypen vil gjør teknologien enda mer moden og – sett fra reders perspektiv – redusere teknologirisiko betraktelig. Sistnevnte vil gjøre det mye enklere for rederier å velge å investere i en eller flere Zero Emission Pod-er.

– Systemet vårt er designet utfra en risikobasert metodikk slik at det overholder kravene til sikkerhetsbarrierer i IMOs retningslinjer for brenselceller. Dette er avgjørende for å skape et massemarkedsprodukt som raskt kan tas i bruk av den maritime næringen. Å kunne vise frem et fysisk, fungerende produkt til redere og verft vil bidra til økt forståelse for modenheten og omsetteligheten til Zero Emission Pod, sier Kristian Osnes, administrerende direktør i HAV Groups virksomhet for hydrogenbaserte energisystemer.

Testing og sertifisering vil gjennomføres ved SINTFEs nye testanlegg i Trondheim.

Støtte mottatt

På grunn av systemets innovative trekk og betydelige kommersielle potensial har Innovasjon Norge bevilget 12,4 millioner kroner i støtte til HAV Groups hydrogenvirksomhet for å bygge og teste den første fullskala Zero Emission Pod-en. Prototypen skal bygges i løpet av 2024.

Innovasjon Norges miljøteknologiordning er rettet mot pilot- og demonstrasjonsfasen av utviklingsprosjekter innen miljøteknologi. Formålet med ordningen er å fremme utvikling og implementering av nye teknologier som gir økt miljøvern og bidrar til å styrke norsk næringslivs konkurranseevne.

– I møtet med de betydelige utfordringene knyttet til energiomstilling og utfasing av fossile drivstoff blir oppdraget til Innovasjon Norge enda tydeligere. Å støtte prosjekter som HAV Hydrogens er viktig fordi det oppsummerer Innovasjon Norges forpliktelse til å støtte norsk industri gjennom den viktige omstillingen, sier Magne Aarsnes, finansieringsrådgiver i innovasjon Norge.

HAV Group ASA vil bidra med resten av finansieringen som kreves for å bygge, teste og sertifisere prototypene.
– HAV Group ønsker å muliggjøre grønn omstilling til havs. Å ta i bruk et sikkert og lettinstallert energisystem for hydrogen er en attraktiv snarvei for fartøysoperatører og -eiere som ønsker å redusere utslipp fra flåten deres uten å pådra seg urimelige høye kostnader ved å gjøre det. Vi ser frem til å bidra til byggingen av prototypen og å frigjøre det kommersielle potensialet som ligger i denne teknologien, sier Gunnar Larsen, konsernsjef i HAV Group.

Nybygg eller ettermontering

Installert effekt fra Zero Emission Pod kan anvendes til skipets fremdriftssystem eller som ekstra strømforsyning om bord for å imøtekomme grønne driftssituasjoner. I havn kan hydrogensystemet sikre grønn energi til fartøyet, som ikke trenger å være avhengig av ladeinfrastruktur på land for å oppnå nullutslippsstatus.

– Zero Emission Pod kan enten ettermonteres på fartøy som ikke er klargjort for konvensjonell retrofit-installasjon under dekk, eller det kan være en komplett tilleggsmodul som gjør installasjonsrisikoen mye lavere på nybyggprosjekter, legger Osnes til.

HAV Group ASA: Datterselskap skal levere utstyr til seks bulkskip

februar 2024 – Tørrbulkrederiet Wilson har valgt HAV Groups vannbehandlingsvirksomhet for å levere rensesystemer for ballastvann (BWTS) til seks nye bulkskip på 3 800 dødvekttonn som bygges ved Udupi Cochin Shipyard i India.

Som del av kontrakten vil HAV Groups virksomhet for vannbehandling levere sitt energieffektive ballastvannrensesystem til de seks nybyggene. Selskapet har ikke oppgitt verdien på kontrakten.

Det kjemikaliefrie systemet vårt, som er svært kompakt, energieffektivt og har funksjonalitet for fjerntilgang og -assistanse, passer derfor godt om bord disse skipene, sier Gunnar Larsen, konsernsjef i HAV Group ASA.

HAV Groups virksomhet for vannbehandling skal produsere ballastvannrensesystemene ved selskapets hovedkontor i Fosnavåg og levere dem til Udupi Cochin Shipyard. Virksomheten er leverandør av ballastvannrensesystemer og andre systemer for rensing av vann for bruk i havbruksnæringen og i maritim næring.

HAV Groups kontraktspart er Norwegian Greentech AS, som har hovedkontor i Fosnavåg. Kontrakten er booket som ordreinntak i fjerde kvartal 2023.

HAV Group ASA: Subsidiary to supply six bulker newbuilds

15 February 2024 – Dry cargo shipping group Wilson has chosen HAV Group’s water treatment business to deliver the ballast water treatment systems to six 3,800 dwt newbuild bulkers that are being constructed at Udupi Cochin Shipyard in India.

Under the contract, HAV Group’s water treatment business will supply its energy efficient ballast water treatment system (BWTS) to the six newbuilds. The company has not disclosed the value of the contract.

The award includes options to deliver the BWTS system to eight additional bulker newbuilds that Wilson is building at Udupi Cochin Shipyard.

“Wilson is an important customer of our water treatment business, which to date has equipped more than 100 of Wilson’s vessels. Low power consumption and effective utilisation of available space is particularly important for small cargo vessels, where available space equals potential revenue. Our BWTS system, which is very compact, energy efficient and comes with functionality for remote access and assistance, is therefore a great fit for these bulkers,” says Gunnar Larsen, CEO of HAV Group ASA.

HAV Group’s water treatment business will manufacture the ballast water treatment systems at its headquarters in Fosnavåg, Norway, and deliver them to Udupi Cochin Shipyard. The business supplies ballast water treatment systems and other systems for purification of water for use in the aquaculture industry and in the maritime sector.

HAV Group’s contract party is Norwegian Greentech AS, which is headquartered in Fosnavåg, Norway. The contract has been booked as order intake in the fourth quarter of 2023.
