Press Release - Oslo, Norway, June 13, 2022: Photocure ASA (OSE: PHO) announces
that positive data from a Danish population registry study featuring nearly
10,000 bladder cancer patients was presented at the Nordisk Urologisk Forening
(NUF) congress in Helsinki, Finland last week. NUF was being held June 8-11,
2022 as an in-person event for the first time since 2019. Photocure’s presence
at and commitment to NUF was reinforced by sponsoring the Residents Day event
for this year’s congress. Nordic Residents in Urology is a NUF group, which aims
to increase collaboration and networking between young urologists in the Nordic
countries in order to improve overall education and research opportunities.

Nordisk Urologisk Forening is an association of the national urological
societies in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland, supporting close
cooperation of Nordic urologists in various fields of education, science and
clinical work. The NUF meeting is bi-annual, bringing together Nordic
urologists, nurses and healthcare industry to meet and share best practice.
Photocure, The Bladder Cancer Company, was present in Helsinki during the whole
event.

In the scientific program on Bladder Cancer topics, BLC was prominently featured
again this year: a Danish population study assessing recurrence and progression
impact of BLC using national registries in Denmark was presented at NUF.

The study abstract entitled “Use of photodynamic diagnosis (PDD) at primary
TURB*: Potential influence on recurrence and progression rates in NMIBC in a
registry-based study using a country cohort” shows beneficial impact on
recurrence and progression in patients treated at clinics who have a higher
level of use of BLC in primary patients. The results are based on data from
nearly 10,000 patients identified through the Danish National Patient Registry,
corresponding to all newly diagnosed NMIBC patients in Denmark in the period
2011-2017.

Linea Blichert-Refsgaard (MD, PhD student) presented this study live on June 9
and in a poster, concluding that “Common use of PDD in the primary TURB at
department level seems to be associated with lower 5-year recurrence and
progression risks”.

Jørgen Bjerggaard Jensen (MD, DMSc, Professor, Consultant in Urology, Chairman
of the Danish Bladder Cancer Group and the Nordic Urothelial Cancer Research
Group, Department of Urology Aarhus University Hospital put the importance of
these study results into perspective, stating: “These real world data results
show the true potential of adding better visual diagnostic methods in endoscopy
compared to the old standard with conventional white light”.

About Bladder Cancer
Bladder cancer ranks as the 8[th] most common cancer worldwide - the 5[th] most
common in men - with 1 720 000 prevalent cases (5-year prevalence rate)[1a],
573 000 new cases and more than 200 000 deaths in 2020.[1b]

Approx. 75% of all bladder cancer cases occur in men.[1] It has a high

grown into deeper layers of the bladder wall. These cancers, including subtypes

Abstract

Purpose

The therapeutic benefit of intravesical instillation of hexaminolevulinate (HAL) at the time of transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT) has been demonstrated in multiple studies. The purpose of this study was to prospectively assess the safety of repeated administration of HAL from a phase III pre-trial planned analysis.

Materials and methods

All patients evaluated in the study received at least 1 dose of HAL at the time of office cystoscopy, and a subset of these patients (n = 103, 33.2%) received a second dose a few weeks later at the time of TURBT. Adverse events (AEs) were recorded, and the safety of repeat use of HAL was determined by comparing the proportion of patients with AEs considered causally related to HAL in the surveillance examination compared to the OR examination. Association between categorical variables was tested using Fisher’s Exact Test, and a P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant.

Results

HAL-related AEs were experienced by 6 patients (2.2%) during surveillance cystoscopy and 3 patients (3.4%) following TURBT (P = 0.76); 181 patients (59.5%) had prior exposure to HAL before enrolling in the study with no difference in the number of AEs when comparing prior exposure to HAL to no prior exposure (P = 0.76). Of the patients who previously received intravesical therapy, 8 (2.9%) had at least 1 AE during surveillance compared to 3 (9.7%) who had no prior intravesical therapy (P = 0.09).

Conclusions

Repeat use of HAL is safe even when administered within a few weeks of receiving a dose of intravesical therapy.

support the most advanced technologies including recent blue light system
upgrades. These collaborations were most recently showcased at this year’s
European Association of Urology (EAU) Congress July 1-4, 2022, in Amsterdam. At
this Congress, Photocure’s commercial teams focused on making this first
opportunity to be present “in person” count in order to support its customers
and the Urology society.

The EAU saw the first public demonstration of Karl Storz’s new and improved Blue
Light System to be used with Photocure’s Hexvix[®] product for the detection of
NMIBC*. This new photodynamic diagnostics (PDD) system based on the new light
source POWER LED SAPHIRAT from KARL STORZ was featured on both companies’
exhibition stands at the EAU Congress, including on the Photocure Bladder Cancer
Awareness Bus.

Delegates could discover for themselves how the “IMAGE1 ST SAPHIRA[T]” system
improves visualization of bladder cancer via demonstrations and hands on
experience. Manufactured and soon to be commercialized by KARL STORZ, the new
Blue Light system is the next generation of equipment, designed to improve the
Blue Light experience and provide next-level visualization.

Photocure ASA – Share option grant

Oslo, Norway, 20 July 2022 - Photocure ASA (the “Company”) (OSE: PHO) has granted share options to employees and members of the board of directors.

A total of 715,028 share options, equal to 2.6% of total shares issued in the Company, were granted at an exercise price at NOK 114.89. The exercise price is equal to the weighted average share price 30 trading days before day of grant with an additional premium of 10% on top of the calculated average price.

Out of the total grant, 710,500 options have been granted to employees. The options are granted in accordance with Photocure’s long term incentive program and the Company’s guidelines for remuneration of senior executives (the “Guidelines”), as approved by Photocure’s annual general meeting held 28 April 2022. The share option program and properties of the options are further described in the Guidelines.

Out of the total grant, 4,528 options have been granted to board members. The Company has implemented the option grant to the board of directors in accordance with the proposal by the nomination committee as resolved by the annual general meeting of Photocure on 28 April 2022. The share options to the members of the board of directors are granted at terms similar to the share option program for management (as described in the Guidelines), with adjustments as set out in the nomination committee’s proposal to the annual general meeting held on 28 April 2022.

now expects commercial availability of the upgraded blue light system in late Q3
2022.

The Company reports that five flexible blue light cystoscopy (BLC[®]) towers
were installed in the U.S. during the second quarter of 2022. While no rigid BLC
towers were available for placement during the second quarter, the demand for
blue light capital equipment remains strong.

About Bladder Cancer
Bladder cancer ranks as the 8[th] most common cancer worldwide - the 5[th] most
common in men - with 1 720 000 prevalent cases (5-year prevalence rate)[1a],
573 000 new cases and more than 200 000 deaths annually in 2020.[1b]

Approx. 75% of all bladder cancer cases occur in men.[1] It has a high
recurrence rate, with up to 61% in year one and up to 78% over five years.[2]
Bladder cancer has the highest lifetime treatment costs per patient of all
cancers.[3]

Bladder cancer is a costly, potentially progressive disease for which patients
have to undergo multiple cystoscopies due to the high risk of recurrence. There
is an urgent need to improve both the diagnosis and the management of bladder
cancer for the benefit of patients and healthcare systems alike.

Bladder cancer is classified into two types, non-muscle invasive bladder cancer
(NMIBC) and muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC), depending on the depth of
invasion in the bladder wall. NMIBC remains in the inner layer of cells lining
the bladder. These cancers are the most common (75%) of all cases and include
the subtypes Ta, carcinoma in situ (CIS), and T1 lesions. In MIBC, the cancer
has grown into deeper layers of the bladder wall. These cancers, including
subtypes T2, T3, and T4, are more likely to spread and are harder to treat.[4]

Photocure will release its 2Q22 report on August 10th. Our estimates stand at NOK 97m for revenues, which is 19% growth QoQ and 7% YoY. We expect that a better access to hospitals should lead to better sales figures for both Europe and the US after a rather sluggish start of the year. Currency should also play a big role due to the massive strengthening of the USD lately. Notably, this affects not only on the top line but costs as well. multinational Phase III Clinical Trial of APL-1702 (Cevira[®]), a novel non
-surgical treatment of cervical high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions
(HSIL), has successfully enrolled 402 patients in the study two months ahead of
schedule. Additionally, Photocure received a $1 million milestone payment from
Asieris related to the ongoing clinical development of Cevira.

APRICITY is a multicenter, prospective, double-blind, randomized controlled
Phase III study further evaluating the efficacy and safety of the integrated
drug-and light-delivery device Cevira[®] in the treatment of HSIL. The clinical
trial was approved by the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) in
July 2020 and was conducted simultaneously at 65 sites in 8 countries including
China, Germany, Hungary and the Netherlands. The first patient was dosed in
November 2020.

Cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer in women worldwide[1]. In 2020,
604,000 new cases and 342,000 deaths worldwide were attributed to cervical
cancer.[1,2 ]Current treatments of HSIL of the cervix are based on invasive
surgical interventions, compromising cervical competence and functionality.
Currently, no non-surgical approach is available for the treatment of
precancerous cervical lesions.

become commercially available in the United States in late third quarter 2022,
which is in turn expected to accelerate the placement of rigid towers.

“We delivered 12% Hexvix/Cysview revenue growth and 9% unit growth in the second
quarter of 2022, despite delays in the new Karl Storz blue light system launch
and ongoing effects from Covid-19. The commitment of our commercial teams in
both the U.S. and in Europe enabled the business to significantly recover from a
difficult first quarter and achieve positive year over year growth with our base
business, despite the staffing shortages that continue to plague healthcare
systems around the world. While access to care has reopened, many hospital
systems now have stricter rules for non-essential personnel within the facility,
and limited staffing means less time for face-to-face customer engagement.
Nevertheless, in the second quarter of 2022, our U.S. business achieved the
highest unit sales volume in our history, and we continue to increase Cysview’s
penetration into the bladder cancer treatment market,” says Dan Schneider,
President & Chief Executive Officer of Photocure.

Photocure reported total group revenues of NOK 100.6 million in the second
quarter of 2022 (NOK 90.4 million), and an EBITDA* of NOK 1.4 million (NOK 5.8
million). The Hexvix/Cysview revenues ended at NOK 99.9 million in the quarter
(Q2 2021: NOK 88.9 million), on higher unit sales in both North American and
Europe and a favorable net benefit from foreign exchange. The EBIT was NOK -4.6
million (NOK -0.2 million) and the cash balance at the end of the second quarter
2022 was NOK 273.1 million. The installed base of blue light cystoscopes in the
U.S. was 329 at the end of the second quarter, an increase of 41 towers or 14%
since the same period in 2021, including a total base of 58 flexible
cystoscopes, which grew 38% year over year.

“I am pleased to reiterate that demand for blue light cystoscopy (BLC[®])
continues to be very strong, and that new high-definition blue light equipment
from Karl Storz is anticipated by our accounts in both the U.S. and European
markets. Major capital equipment suppliers are highly aware of the need, and are
preparing to launch new upgraded blue light systems in Europe. These technology
upgrades are expected to improve the BLC experience for physicians, and we
believe that the use of high-definition towers will further accelerate demand
for Hexvix/Cysview. Our U.S. pipeline for new BLC towers remains robust, and we
continue to work with Karl Storz in preparation of the launch of the new blue
light system later this quarter,” Schneider adds.

With the new Karl Storz system anticipated to launch in the U.S. in late third
quarter of 2022, Photocure expects that the placements of new blue light rigid
towers will accelerate in the fourth quarter of this year. Meanwhile, the
company will continue to focus on increasing the use of Cysview in existing
accounts as well as placing flexible BLC equipment, for which installation
momentum has increased.

“We believe that the second half of this year has potential for some exciting
developments. With healthcare access now reopened and the new high-definition
blue light system expected to launch in the coming weeks, we are looking forward
to significantly expanding the base of blue light capital equipment and
accelerating the growth of our Hexvix/Cysview franchise,” Schneider concludes.

Hexvix/Cysview is a drug that preferentially accumulates in cancer cells in the
bladder, making them glow bright pink during Blue Light Cystoscopy (BLC[®]). BLC
with Hexvix/Cysview, compared to standard white light cystoscopy alone, improves
the detection of tumors and leads to more complete resection, fewer residual
tumors, and better management decisions.

Cysview[ ]is the tradename in the U.S. and Canada, Hexvix[ ]is the tradename in
